Our Family

A heritage of higher performance

For 50 years, we’ve put our heart and hard work into breeding the highest quality performance horses. We hold our practices and our horses to hard standards, because Patten Peterson Horses don’t just come from our ranch — they come from our family.

From our family to yours

A little about us: Kale Peterson is a recognized horse trainer with a long list of accolades. Tatum Peterson (nee Patten) is a lifelong horse breeder with a history of excellence. Together, we and our family are proud to produce horses that live up to the demands of both our customers and our legacy of quality.

“When someone comes to us, we want to find a horse that will suit them and their personality.”

                   — Rory Patten

Our History

In 1972, Doug Patten moved his family to Broken Springs Ranch in Alberta, Canada. From that day on, every member of our growing family has made it their life’s work to guarantee the pedigree and performance of our horses. Our entire clan puts everything they do into ensuring the horse you purchase from our ranch lives up to your standards, and the standards we set for ourselves 50 years ago.

The Road Ahead

As our families have grown together, so have our plans for expanding our ability to breed performance horses that live up to the rigorous standards of our customers. We look forward to sharing more about the future of our ranches and the new opportunities they’ll create.
